Mentoring Program
Summer League

Specialized sports skills training and coaching series led by prominent athletes in coaches from the Buffalo area. GSF specializes in basketball but we offer lessons in a number of other sports including soccer, hockey, and swim.

Our mentoring topics and initiatives range in subject matter and focus based on the needs of our target audience. Some of our consistent practices include journaling, mindfulness, positive affirmations, and giving back to the community. Over the years we have partnered with subject matter experts, motivational speakers, life coaches, and other positive role models to facilitate discussions and activities. Additionally, we’ve partnered with universities and colleges to enlist students to execute and assist in accomplishing our mentoring goals. With the leadership of our mentoring coordinator our future plans will expand to collaborations with other not for profits, community engagement and peer coaching.

The annual summer basketball league draws female basketball players of all ages from all over the city. Each year the league is held at a local park every Saturday for approximately 5-8 eight weeks. Our summer league is intended to provide a safe, fun, and organized outlet for girls in the community. We help our girls develop skills and knowledge of the game all while experiencing a more positive outlook on their lives and their neighborhood(s). We have been fortunate enough to gain sponsorship from local government officials such as Mayor Byron Brown, and other businesses in the Buffalo area. In the past, we have been supported by some of the best local basketball players and even women from the WNBA!
