Cecelie Owens, a native of Buffalo, NY , is the founder and president of the G.I.R.L.S. Sports Foundation, Inc. (GSF). She founded the organization with a vision and a dream to teach girls growing up in her community the values that were so generously given to her.


Ms. Owens possesses a Bachelor of Science in education, Masters in education, Masters in Educational Leadership and a school district administration certification. She is also the first African American female inducted into the Buffalo State College Athletic Hall of Fame – 1999. Cecelie served as the Director of the National Youth Sports Program (NYSP) hosted at Buffalo State College for 10 years and obtained many awards and accolades for her extreme dedication and commitment to being an educator.


Her experience, education, and devotion led her to assemble a diverse board of directors and qualified staff members that share her same vision. These members dedicate their time to GSF and its girls by executing solid plans and organizational processes that benefit our short and long term goals.
